The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will have one less home game at Raymond James Stadium in 2019. Why? The NFL is sending them outside the country to play host to another team as part of the league’s International series.
This was part of the deal when the 2021 Super Bowl was awarded to the bay area.
This series has been a huge opportunity for the league to continue to grow internationally. Buccaneers’ Chief Operating Officer Brian Ford had this to say via the team’s website.
Our league’s global presence continues to grow and expand through the success of the NFL International Series and we look forward to showcasing the Buccaneer organization to an international audience.
The last time the Buccaneers played outside of the United States was in 2011 against the Chicago Bears in London. The country, venue, and opponent will be announced next spring.
