Official: Buccaneers cut kicker Chandler Catanzaro after loss to Washington

Inconsistency was Catanzaro’s downfall.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released kicker Chandler Catanzaro after he missed another two field goals in the team’s 16-3 loss on Sunday to Washington.

Catanzaro was inconsistent all year long and the team simply couldn’t rely on him any longer.

The Buccaneers expected big things from Catanzaro after signing him to a three year deal in the offseason. He never lived up to expectations and Tampa Bay will be looking for yet another kicker to hopefully get rid of their kicking curse.

The Buccaneers are now 3-6 and have winnable games coming up against the Giants and 49ers. They’ll need to sign a kicker before their next game.

Update #1: Head coach Dirk Koetter said during his presser Monday that the team has not made a decision in Catanzaro. Stay tuned...

Update #2: The Buccaneers officially announced the release of Catanzaro. He was 23-for-27 in extra point attempts and 11-for-15 in field goals.
