The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced its 15 modern era finalists for this year, and John Lynch is once again amongst the candidates. This is the fifth consecutive year Lynch has made it to the final round. Only five of the fifteen players up for nomination will make it into the Hall of Fame this year.
As was the case in the previous five years, though, it seems unlikely Lynch will make it in. With Ray Lewis, Randy Moss, Edgerrin James, Tony Boselli, Brian Dawkins, Alan Faneca and Brian Urlacher, he’s pretty far down the pecking order—and only five players will make it in.
In addition to those names, Isaac Bruce, Ty Law, Everson Walls, Terrell Owens, Kevin Mawae and Steve Hutchison are up for a place among the finalists. The senior committee nominees this year are Robert Brazile and Jerry Kramer, while Bobby Beathard is up as a contributor. All three should make it in, as their enshrinements will be in addition to the five modern-era players that will enter the Hall of Fame.
The members of the 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame class will be announced the night before the Super Bowl, on February 3rd.
