After Hurricane Irma, Bucs give back to the community

We don’t write about various Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ off-field work much—they do a lot of it, and a lot of them don’t want or seek any publicity for it. Sometimes, though, it’s worth picking out a few efforts.

Like this week. The Tampa Bay area got hit by Hurricane Irma two weeks ago, and while it was spared the brunt of the hurricane’s effect, there was still a lot of material devastation. And the past weeks, many Bucs have helped bring some relief to the community.

One of those Bucs is Jameis Winston, who’s always done a lot of community work, and he helped distribute food and donated gift cards to over 400 families affected by the hurricane. Each family received a whopping 35 pounds of food as part of the Food for Florida Disaster Food Assistance Program.

Winston isn’t the only Buc to do charity work for the community following or prior to Irma, though. Most notably, the Glazer family donated $1 million to the Red Cross.

Around the NFL, in fact, players are springing into action to help those affected by natural disasters. One worth considering donating to: Kiko Alonso’s Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief Fund.
