Devante Bond is the only Bucs player on the injury report

The Buccaneers look pretty healthy for their first game.

Looks like the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are almost entirely healthy: linebacker Devante Bond is the only player listed on today’s injury report, the first of the season, and he even participated in practice on a limited basis.

Earlier in the day, Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reported that all 53 players participated in practice and none were held out. Some of them may have had minor injuries—the Bucs are allowed some discretion on how serious an injury needs to be before they officially list a player on the injury report—but it’s a very good sign.

It’s also pretty surprising. The Bucs had quite a few players dealing with injuries toward the end of preseason, most notably Brent Grimes, Adam Humphries and Jacquies Smith. The extra, involuntarily week off probably helped in getting them ready for today and, hopefully, Sunday’s game.

Smith’s return in particular will be a big boost for the Bucs, who lack depth and defensive end and could definitely use his pass-rush potential.
