Nick Folk is your kicker, Buccaneers fans

Neither Zach Hocker nor Roberto Aguayo could compete with him.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will go into the season with veteran Nick Folk as their kicker. This was one of the few positions where there was some kind of actual competition this preseason—first with last year’s second-round pick Roberto Aguayo, and then with Zach Hocker, who was just cut.

Aguayo lasted just one preseason game, as the Bucs cut him after he missed two kicks in ugly fashion. They then brought in Hocker to compete with Folk, but they had no reason to let go of Folk, so Hocker is gone.

Folk hit seven of his eight kicks this preseason and did well on kickoffs. He also has a long history of being a solid, reliable kicker, so the Bucs had a pretty easy choice here. Still, it was worth noting given all of the Aguayo drama this past year. Hopefully having Folk on the roster will be a smoother experience.
