Hard Knocks with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers starts tonight, with HBO airing the first episode at 10 p.m. ET. I’m sure all of us who have HBO (and some of us who don’t) will be checking it out, and then we’ll get to talk about it all incessantly. And ask Dirk Koetter a bunch of questions about whatever comes up.
The Bucs head coach doesn’t want to hear it, though. In fact, he seems a little sick and tired of talking about Hard Knocks. Here’s what he said when asked about his hopes for Hard Knocks today.
"My hope is that we quit talking about it in my daily press conference. That's my main hope, because my job is to coach the football team, not to worry about that."
Hah. Koetter was at least professional enough to not actually bash the HBO crew, or complain about the effect Hard Knocks has had on his players—he just doesn’t want to talk about it anymore.
Good luck with that, though. All those reporters who ask Koetter questions every day will be watching Hard Knocks, and they’ll be looking to tie in some of those questions to show. One upside for Koetter: he’ll get plenty of opportunity for snarky answers, too.
