Football is back! Kind of. The NFL returns today with the annual Hall of Fame game, the preseason game that accompanies the Pro Football Hall of Fame inductions for some reason.
This year, the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals will face off on a Thursday, instead of a Sunday. That’s a pretty big chance, but so is holding this game at all: last year’s event was cancelled at the last moment due to concerns over the state of the field.
There’s generally not that much reason to watch this game, unless your favorite team plays in it and/or you’re just that desperate for any kind of football, no matter how pointless and terrible, what with teams regularly trotting out fourth-string backups for this game.
Still, I’m sure some of you will actually watch this thing, if only because there’s not that much else to watch for football fans. So here are the nuts and bolts to tonight’s Hall of Fame game. Enjoy!
