Buccaneers waive Jude Adjei-Barimah, re-sign Andrew DePaola

The Bucs cut their nickel back.

This is unexpected: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just waived cornerback Jude Adjei-Barimah with an injury designation, and re-signed longsnapper Andrew DePaola to take his place.

Adjei-Barimah stood out the last two years after entering the league as an undrafted free agent. He was never outstanding, but looked promising and like a potential future starter. A four-game suspension for violating the PED policy at the end of last season probably didn’t help him, though, and neither did the team’s depth at cornerback.

Adjei-Barimah played 23 games in the past two seasons with eight starts, though he got significant playing time in almost all of them as the team’s primary slot cornerback.

Cutting Adjei-Barimah did clear up space for reliable longsnapper Andrew DePaola, who the team cut earlier this year because of an injury. Seems he’s healthy and ready to contribute, which probably vaults him to the top of the longsnapper competition.
