Bucs tackle Demar Dotson is getting an MRI

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have an issue at right tackle. Veteran Demar Dotson had to leave Thursday night’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a groin injury, and Dirk Koetter today said Dotson will have to get an MRI, though he wouldn’t comment on the seriousness of the injury.

The fact that Dotson was almost immediately ruled out after suffering the injury and now the news of this MRI imply that Dotson may be missing a significant amount of time, though, which would be a pretty big blow to the Bucs’ offense.

Dotson turns 32 this year and is declining, but he’s still one of the better right tackles in the league. Caleb Benenoch replaced him against the Jaguars, with Leonard Wester getting some playing time later, and neither player really impressed. The Bucs may have to shuffle the line by moving left guard Kevin Pamphile to right tackle and Evan Smith or Joe Hawley to left guard—but those aren’t ideal options.
