The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had been relatively healthy until now, but they’re starting to get hit with injuries. Dirk Koetter announced one of those today: linebacker Devante Bond will be out “a while” after getting an MRI.
Bond was a sixth-round pick last year, but missed the entire season with an injury. He’s pencilled in as the starter at strongside outside linebacker right now, though there’s a good chance rookie fourth-round pick Kendell Beckwith will eventually grab that spot—and obviously, Beckwith will get that spot now that Bond is out with injury.
That might be a problem, though: Beckwith did not look good in his preseason debut, though that may be attributable to rookie jitters and a long injury process. None of that matters: Beckwith will need to step up and perform right away.
Koetter also noted that running back Russell Hansbrough is in the concussion protocol, which is likely to keep him out for the next game.
