Why Bucs WR Mike Evans can live up to the hype

The Bucs have a lot of young players to be excited about.

A lot of Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans are hyped for this season, and rightly so. After a 9-7 season the arrow is pointing up, and we should see the team’s first playoff berth in a decade—now that’s something. And with that excitement comes player, hype, too—so which player are you most excited about?

Me, I’m most excited for Mike Evans. He already has a claim to being the best receiver to ever play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and we’re just three years into his career. He has a real shot at being the best receiver in the NFL this season, and the space that DeSean Jackson creates for him should allow him to rack up a ridiculous amount of yards.

Speaking of DeSean Jackson, let’s be excited about him, too. One of the fastest receivers in the NFL teaming up with Dirk Koetter’s down-the-field passing and Jameis Winston arm—could be magic.

And yes, Jameis Winston is another player to be extremely excited about. He’s been good in his first two years, and year three is often a pivotal moment for young quarterbacks, the breakthrough season. If Winston can improve on his deep ball and maybe cut down a little on the interceptions, he should be a top ten or even top five quarterback this season.

Finally, on defense, there’s Kwon Alexander. He’s had two very good seasons, improving steadily in his sophomore campaign and hopefully taking a third-year leap, too. I’m not sure how the increased 3-4 looks will affect his play, but I am sure that Alexander could rack up a lot of splash plays this year.
