Apparently, Vince Young said some things to Sports Illustrated about how he should still have a job and Ryan Fitzpatrick shouldn’t. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed Fitzpatrick as a potential backup (he has to beat out fourth-year undrafted free agent Ryan Griffin), so basically Young is calling out the Bucs here.
“Exactly. I hate to name-drop, but [Ryan] Fitzpatrick is still playing!? He leads the league in interceptions, and he’s still f------ getting paid? I mean, what the f--- is going on?”
Look, Ryan Fitzpatrick is not a good quarterback. He’s never been a good quarterback, and he’s clearly close to the end of his career. Some quarterbacks still on the market, like Colin Kaepernick, have grounds to question their being at home and his getting paid $3 million to sit on the bench.
But eh....Vince Young is not one of those quarterbacks. He couldn’t even make it as a backup CFL quarterback this year. The man has had all of two good seasons in his career, and the last one came in 2009. He hasn’t played since 2011! Vince Young, your career as an NFL player is over, dead, buried and done with. Let it go!
