Buccaneers waive Greg Mabin, sign no one

The Bucs make one roster move after rookie minicamp.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have waived cornerback Greg Mabin following rookie minicamp, the team announced.

They’d signed Mabin as an undrafted free agent following the 2017 NFL draft, but apparently he didn’t show enough in minicamp to stick around. Mabin played his college football at Iowa, where he showed some physicality and limited athleticism, but often struggled on tape.

The Bucs have plenty of depth at cornerback and it was always going to be a very tough ask for Mabin to make the roster, or even the practice squad. It seems undrafted rookies Maurice Fleming and Jonathan Moxey will still get a shot at proving their worth, at least.

The Bucs did not make a corresponding move to fill up the roster spot left open by him, so their roster remains at 89 players for now. They’ll likely sign a player in the next few days, though, so keep an eye on that.
