The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are getting an extra practice squad player this year. Linebacker Eric Nzeocha will join the team as an eleventh practice squad player this year.
“It is overwhelming, one of the greatest moments of my life,” Nzeocha told Buccaneers.com. “It has been my dream since I started playing football at the age of 14. When they told me this was happening I was overwhelmed. I am looking forward to it so much. It’s unreal.”
Nzeocha played tight end and linebacker at the University of Wyoming, starting five games at middle linebacker in 2015, his final season in college and his first at linebacker.
All four NFC South teams got an extra practice squad spot for an international player as part of the International Player Pathway project. The NFL has been working to expand internationally for years, and getting some more international players on NFL rosters will undoubtedly help there.
