The Tampa Bay Buccaneers started their OTAs today, which gives us the first real glimpse of the new Bucs players. DeSean Jackson being one of them.
It’s been a while since we’ve heard of real diva behavior from Jackson, who’s good enough to get away with a lot of it, but I feel like this qualifies:
#Bucs WR @DeSeanJackson11 wears No. 1 in practice and wears No. 11 on game days.

Wide receivers are not allowed to wear No. 1 in NFL games, but there’s no real forbidding them from wearing it in practice. So eh....I guess that’s cool, if a bit weird. It’s harmless, at least.
This is actually a thing Jackson has done in the past—a quick look at photo galleries show him wearing the No. 1 jersey in training camp in Washington, too.
Now hey, if players can just choose their own practice numbers (or rip numbers off their practice jerseys) I’d like to see some other combinations. Get creative and have fun. And then get kicked off the team for stepping out of line, so, maybe don’t.
Unless you’re Desean Jackson, of course. Then you’re good enough to get away with—admittedly harmless—stuff like this.
