The New Orleans Saints are about to sign running back Adrian Peterson, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Yes, the Pro Bowler who’s been offering his services to every remotely competitive team for the past few months.
Sources: #Saints & Adrian Peterson believed to be closing in on a deal that’d pay him $3M+ in ’17. Not done, but moving in that direction.

Well, good for the Saints. That’s a pretty cheap deal for a potential Pro Bowler, but a very expensive one for an over-the-hill-veteran. We can’t know which one of those two Peterson is right now, but given that he’s missed nearly two full seasons worth of games in the past three years, I’d err toward the latter.
This should end all of the rumors that he was headed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, too. Those rumors were based solely on statements of interest made by Peterson, not the Bucs, and there has really been no indication whatsoever that the Bucs were interested in him at any point.
Instead, Tampa Bay will probably spend a draft pick on a running back later this week. Whether that’ll be early or later in the draft remains to be seen, though.
