Doug Martin, Robert Ayers cleared for Lions game

The Bucs get two key starters back.

NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Miami Dolphins Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will miss four key players against the Detroit Lions on Sunday, in addition to all of the players who are on injured reserve. Cornerback Vernon Hargreaves, safety/special teamer Josh Robinson, safety T.J. Ward and defensive tackle Clinton McDonald have all been ruled out for the game with various injuries.

Hargreaves has been out a hamstring injury for about a month, so they’ll deal with that in the usual way, and the same is true for Josh Robinson. T.J. Ward and Clinton McDonald are missing their second game in a row, and should be replaced mostly by committee.

Other than that, the Bucs are entirely healthy. That includes Jameis Winston, Doug Martin, Robert Ayers and Joe Hawley, who will all return to action on Sunday, with the last three having missed last week’s game. Martin’s return will be interesting to watch: how much playing time will the veteran get now that Peyton Barber had the best game of any Bucs running back this year?
