Gerald McCoy, Lavonte David return to practice

The Bucs are getting healthier in some ways.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers placed five players on injured reserve today, and they still have some veterans missing practice. Both defensive end Robert Ayers and wide receiver DeSean Jackson were absent with injury today.

Ayers has missed the last couple of games, and it’s not clear whether he’ll be ready for the season’s penultimate game on Sunday. DeSean Jackson injured his ankle last Monday, and is unlikely to be entirely healthy against the Carolina Panthers, too. But the Bucs wouldn’t keep them on the roster if they didn’t think there was a decent chance of them making it to one of the next two games. They could just place them on injured reserve instead.

In some good news, Gerald McCoy participated in limited fashion today and he may be ready to return to the field, despite suffering a biceps injury only two weeks ago. Tight end Cameron Brate and linebacker Lavonte David were also practicing, and are likely to play on Sunday. David missed last week’s game, while Brate suffered an injury during the game.
