The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are promoting linebacker Riley Bullough to the active roster, the team announces. Bullough made a name for himself during the preseason, when he was one of the stars of Hard Knocks.
Looking good on camera and getting a reputation for hard work and leadership wasn’t enough to get Bullough on the initial 53-man roster, but he’s getting his chance now. He’ll mostly have to make an impact on special teams.
To make room for Bullough, the Bucs waived cornerback Deji Olatoye, who’d been on the roster for a week. Surprisingly, Gerald McCoy is sticking around for now—the defensive tackle suffered a biceps injury on Sunday and most signs have been ominous, but he’s at least getting a chance to stay on the roster for now. That’s the first good sign for the veteran defensive tackle.
