William Gholston suffered a neck injury against the New Orleans Saints, on a play with very little contact. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end went down and received extensive medical care on the field, before being immobilized and carted off the field.
Gholston was conscious and able to move his arms and legs, but the injury still looks scary. It’s not clear how serious it is, exactly, but the Bucs immediately announced he was out for the day. It certainly looked more serious than a regular NFL injury.
We’ll have more information for you as soon as it’s available. Here’s to hoping Gholston’s injury turns out to be a lot less serious than it appeared to be at first glance.
Dirk Koetter said DE Will Gholston is undergoing neurological testing at hospital, & right now he's neurologically sound. Still doing tests.— Scott Smith (@ScottSBucs) November 5, 2017
