The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have to be without Jameis Winston for an extended amount of time. That’s what general manager Jason Licht said on the Bucs’ pre-game show today, per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.
#Bucs QB Jameis Winston could miss more than the next two games, GM Jason Licht said on the team's pre-game show. "...there is no time line on this. This may be an extended period'' of time. Licht added there is no new damage to Wisnton's shoulder.— Rick Stroud (@NFLSTROUD) November 12, 2017
That bit about there being “no time line” sounds pretty ominous, though at least Licht clarified there’s no new damage to their quarterback’s shoulder. Ryan Fitzpatrick has been replacing Winston at quarterback.
Winston’s already been ruled out for this week and the next with his shoulder injury, after aggravating that injury repeatedly in the three games where he tried to play through it. With the Bucs’ season basically over, there’s little pressure to get him back on the field quickly, so focusing on his health makes the most sense right now.
Of course, what makes sense for Winston may not make the most sense for the coaching staff. Because if they keep losing games, they won’t be around for that much longer.
