The Tampa Bay Buccaneers got lucky with their inactives against the New York Jets today: offensive tackles Demar Dotson and Donovan Smith will suit up, as will defensive end Robert Ayers and right guard J.R. Sweezy. That’s despite the fact that all of those players were limited or missed significant parts of practice this week.

The Buccaneers will start Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback, as Jameis Winston is being held out for at least two weeks to let his sprained shoulder heal. Defensive end William Gholston was also ruled out earlier after he suffered a scary neck injury last week. Cornerback Robert McClain is also out, as he injured his hamstring in training this week.

There’s also the curious case of wide receiver Mike Evans, who isn’t injured nor on the inactive list, but suspended for one game after blindsiding Marshon Lattimore last Sunday. He’ll be replaced by rookie Chris Godwin.

As for the New York Jets, they’re mostly healthy. Their most significant absence is running back Matt Forte, who hasn’t been much of a threat this season.
