Whelp, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers suck again. They’re 2-3 after an embarrassing loss to the Arizona Cardinals, and no one thinks they’re good anymore. Certainly no national writer who covers the NFL.
That’s what we see in today’s power rankings, at least. SB Nation’s Adam Stites ranks the Bucs 24th, and that’s about where every other writer has them ranked, too. ESPN has them 25th, for instance.
The Buccaneers have the most difficult remaining strength of schedule in terms of opponents' winning percentage. But factor in that four of their next six are on the road and no bye week, and the Bucs are staring at a serious uphill climb.
Yeah, I’m not sure how they’re going to overcome that. Nor does Yahoo!’s Frank Schwab, who ranks them 27th, nor does the Washington Post’s Mark Maske, who also has them 27th. Only the MMQB staff is slightly optimistic, ranking them 20th.
All of that is a little depressing, but not exactly a surprise. The Bucs looked awful against the Arizona Cardinals, and that’s one of the worst teams in the league. They’ve been convincing in exactly one game this year, and that team was the Mike Glennon-led Chicago Bears. There’s not a lot to work with here, to be honest.
So, ugh, the Bucs suck again. At least until they can start winning games.
