The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have suffered their most significant injury of the season: Jameis Winston suffered a shoulder injury against the Arizona Cardinals, and was forced to leave the game. The Bucs announced his return as ‘doubtful’, which is harsher than the usual ‘questionable’.

Winston appeared to injure his shoulder at the end of the team’s second possession, when he landed awkwardly. He came back for one more series and threw a couple of balls, but apparently that shoulder injury is serious. He’s on the sidelines with his helmet off and not being looked at, so it’s heard to see how he’s going to return.

With Winston out, the Bucs are basically doomed. Their backup quarterback is Ryan Fitzpatrick, and he looked horrible in preseason. He was also terrible last season. Oh, also, they’re down 24-0.

The bigger question is whether Winston is going to miss significant time going forward. Because if that happens, the Bucs can kiss that breakout season (which was already looking extremely iffy) goodbye.
