The Tampa Bay Buccaneers play the New York Giants today. Both teams are in a somewhat miserable state: the 1-1 Bucs are coming off a disheartening blowout loss to the Minnesota Vikings, while the New York Giants are 0-3, coming off at least a competitive loss.
The Bucs defense looked particularly bad last week, while Jameis Winston has yet to turn his explosive weapons into an explosive passing games. The offense may need a little time to gel and more of a running game to really be productive, but the defense’s issues are also injury-related. Unfortunately, the Bucs will likely be missing linebackers Kwon Alexander and Lavonte David as well as safety T.J. Ward this week, so those injury woes are still in place.
Meanwhile, the Giants have just kind of sucked. Their run defense is outright terrible (though the Bucs may not be able to take advantage of that), while the rest of their team’s performance has been thoroughly mediocre. The Bucs should be able to win this game, though perhaps not comfortably.
Two of the main attractions for neutral fans in this game will be Odell Beckham Jr. and Mike Evans: two of the best, young receivers in the game facing pretty bad defense.
