The New England Patriots against the Atlanta Falcons. In Super Bowl XLI. I think this may be the first Super Bowl I’ll watch without actually rooting for a team. Can I root against both teams?
Okay, so, that’s not actually possible. One team has to come out on top, and I guess that means I’m rooting for the Patriots. Because as much as I can’t stand Tom Brady and his face, at least they’re not division rivals.
I could deal with the Saints winning in 2010, because that was a really nice and inspiring story, but the years following that soured me on that perspective. I can’t imagine what it’ll be like if the Falcons win a Super Bowl too, while the Bucs haven’t been to the playoffs in a decade.
So yeah. Go Patriots. Win by cheating, or something. I don’t care. Just beat the Falcons so I can move on.
So, I think I’ve made my point clear, but I know a lot of you feel differently. So who will you root for?
