Buccaneers sign fullback Quayvon Hicks

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed running back Quayvon Hicks to a futures contract, the team announced today. The former Georgia back entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent last year, and spent some time with the Tennessee Titans.

Hicks may be listed as a running back now, at 6’2”, 258 lbs. he was mostly a blocking fullback in college. He did rack up 166 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 23 career carries, plus 12 receptions for 132 yards. He certainly has the size to work as a blocker, while his production in college suggest he at least has a little versatility, too.

The Bucs are likely going to try Hicks as a true fullback, a position the Bucs have been trying to find a good fit for for several years. Dirk Koetter’s picky there, though, and they’ve mostly used tight end Luke Stocker to fill that role when necessary.
