Buccaneers’2016 depth chart: Vernon Hargreaves shares starting job

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers just released their first depth chart of the 2016 regular seasons, and there are no real surprises on there. Everyone we thought was starting, is. And everyone we thought wasn’t, isn’t.

Interestingly, the Buccaneers have taken to just not picking a winner in position battles. Three positions have two players listed as the starter. Tight end has Cameron Brate and Austin Seferian-Jenkins apparently battling it out for the number one spot. Vernon Hargreaves and Alterraun Verner are sharing a starting spot at cornerback, while the kickoff returner could be either Adam Humphries or Ryan Smith.

That does mean that Vernon Hargreaves hasn’t quite won the starting job. And that, despite Seferian-Jenkins playing the entire fourth preseason game, he’s still a significant part of the Bucs offense. We’ll have to wait and see how that plays out in a real game.

At least the Bucs are a little honest about this stuff, though it still feels a little odd, to say the least. Someone will get most of the snaps at these positions, after all.
