Buccaneers officially announce final 2016 roster cuts

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced their final 2016 roster cuts. That is: the final roster cuts at the end of preseason. These are not, by any means, the final roster cuts they'll make this season, nor probably even the final cuts they'll make before next week's game.

The most significant cut among the bunch is sixth-round pick Dan Vitale, the fullback/tight end who never really stood out this preseason. The only other really surprising cut is defensive tackle Cliff Matthews, who could have been the team's fourth defensive tackle. Instead, the Bucs kept undrafted rookie Davonte Lambert. Similarly, the team opted to keep DE Channing Ward over DE Kourtnei Brown, who had slightly more experience.

Here are the team's roster cuts for today. A * means they're eligible for the practice squad. That is: everyone except Cliff Matthews, as all the other veterans who weren't eligible for the practice squad were cut last week.
