A bad game leads to a bad day in the power rankings. Surprise! Last week, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers mostly ranked in the top 15. This week, they plummet to around number 20. That’s what a 40-7 loss will do to you.
Let’s start with SB Nation’s Adam Stites, who has the Bucs ranked 25th, just two spots down from last week. Points for foresight, I guess.
That is not the smallest drop, but it is the lowest ranking. Almost everyone else has the Bucs ranked in the low teens. CBS Sports’ Pete Prisco, Fox Sports, Pro Football Talk, NFL.com’s Elliot Harrison, the Chicago Tribune and Yahoo! Shutdown Corner all have the Bucs ranked between 18th and 20th.
I guess that has to be motivating for a team that was flying high just a week ago. Then again, if you need power rankings to motivate you, you’ve got issues.
A win this week would probably have gotten the Bucs into the top ten, for the first time in years. Now that would have been fun. I like when the Bucs get some respect. Too bad they have to keep messing things up.
