Buccaneers roster cuts tracker 2016: Heading for a 53-man roster

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

Roster cuts so far: WR Bernard Reedy, DE Cliff Matthews, S Kimario McFadden, RB Russell Hansbrough, FB Dan Vitale, LB Luke Rhodes, RB Peyton Barber. 15 cuts left.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won't officially announce their roster cuts until Saturday, 4:00 p.m. ET -- that's the deadline for making the final, 53-man roster cuts. Meanwhile, those cuts will inevitably leak, so we'll be tracking them as they come out.

The Bucs need to cut 22 players before Saturday to get to a 53-man roster. Those cuts won't be the final roster moves the team makes -- Jason Licht is likely to pick up a few players off waivers, and they'll have to adjust throughout the season as well.

So far, three moves have leaked. Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times has reported that defensive tackle Cliff Matthews and safety Kimario McFadden have been cut. The latter was an obvious move: McFadden was re-signed just before the final preseason game to fill out the roster.

The third roster move, is the decision to keep defensive lineman Channing Ward, who can both play on the edge and as a defensive tackle. That surprising move was announced on Ward's Instagram page -- something he may not actually be all that happy with.

Hard work do pay off.. I made the team for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.. Words can't explain how happy I am right now...

2:27 p.m.: Auman also notes Peyton Barber has been cut, leaving the Bucs with just three running backs.

11:07 a.m.: Undrafted rookie linebacker Luke Rhodes has been waived, Auman reports. He also notes that cornerbacks Josh Robinson and Johnthan Banks have made the team, as have tackle Leonard Wester and linebacker Adarius Glanton.

9:52 a.m.: The Bucs cut sixth-round pick Dan Vitale, per Greg Auman. They're keeping tight end Alan Cross instead.

9:19 a.m.: Per Auman, Reedy suffered a knee injury that requires surgery, which is why he was waived.

8:39 a.m.: Bernard Reedy will also be waived, according to Greg Auman. Reedy was the team's main returner on Wednesday night, but it seems like the Bucs are sticking with Adam Humphries to fill that role.

8:11 a.m.: The Bucs are waiving running back Russell Hansbrough, per Greg Auman. That leaves Peyton Barber as the team's fourth running back, if he isn't to be waived. Intriguingly, the Bucs are also keeping DT Davonte Lambert, again per Auman. That may leave defensive ends Kourtnei Brown and Howard Jones off the roster, given that Ward also appears to have made the roster.

6:35 a.m. ET: Bucs cut DT Cliff Matthews, S Kimario McFadden. Will keep DE Channing Ward.
