Jameis Winston throws three interceptions as Bucs get blown out

NFL: Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Arizona Cardinals Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are getting blown out by the Arizona Cardinals. There’s no other word for it: they’re down 33-7, and that scoreline could have been even worse than it is.

While every part of the team has to fail for this to happen, Jameis Winston was a large part of this failure, at least in the box score. He’s produced three interceptions and one fumble, giving the Cardinals a whole lot of easy points.

None of those interceptions were completely his fault. One of them seemed to be miscommunication with Vincent Jackson, but the ball was also poorly thrown. One was a ball tipped at the line, then tipped by Charles Sims, and only then turned into an interception.

Still, though, Winston hasn’t exactly been on point, with several high throws and just general inaccuracy. You don’t complete 21 of 34 passes for just 194 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions.

Of course, Winston wouldn’t be Winston without a few highlight plays, including a beautiful touchdown throw to Mike Evans, who had a standout game himself.

And in all, the Bucs lost on the road to a very good team. Sure, it was an ugly, blowout loss, but it wasn’t exactly unexpected. The Cardinals are good. The Bucs had a bad game. And they may have some more work to do than we had hoped.
