The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were getting trashed in the first half against the Arizona Cardinals, but they came back firing at the start of the second half. As they marched down the field, they tested Patrick Peterson repeatedly — and finally beat him with this beautiful 19-yard touchdown throw to Mike Evans.
Bucs end the shut out. Jameis and Evans made that look waaaay too easy on Patrick Peterson. pic.twitter.com/HJJ2BbaMud— Trevor Sikkema (@TrevorSikkema) September 18, 2016
What stands out with this throw is both the ball placement, and the ease with which Evans makes that catch. Evans has been much better at catching the ball away from his body this season, which is why he has yet to drop the ball this year.
Winston completed 6 of 8 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown on that one drive. Pretty good, especially with Doug Martin out and essentially no running game.
Jameis Winston had struggled to consistently throw the ball in this game, and has turned the ball over three times, including two interceptions. You could question the extent to which those turnovers are Winston’s fault, but he did not have a good first half.
Hopefully, this touchdown changes things a little and the Bucs get back to producing the way we know they can.
