Simeon Rice and John Lynch are part of the list of 94 nominees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2017. They’re the only two former Tampa Bay Buccaneers on the list.
Lynch has been nominated over and over again over the past years, and he was a finalist last season. He has the credentials to make it in, having made nine Pro Bowls and three first-team All-Pros, but the Hall of Fame process is highly competitive, and there are several more spectacular candidates on the ballot.
As for Simeon Rice, he has yet to make it to the final selection. The pass-rusher posted eight seasons with 10+ sacks and was as dominant as any pass-rusher at his high point, but he hasn’t gotten much publicity as a potential Hall of Famer.
The list of nominees will be trimmed to 25 semifinalists in November, and then to 15 finalists in January. The selection committee will then select up to five players from this list to enshrine in the Hall of Fame, and up to three of senior nominee Kenny Easley and contributor nominees Jerry Jones and Paul Tagliabeu.
