It’s a new season, so of course Jameis Winston is winning some new awards. After completing 23 of 33 passes for 281 yards, four touchdowns and one interception against the Atlanta Falcons, Winston has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Week.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback led the team to a 31-24 win in a pretty dominant showing, despite a slow start to the game. He had a number of big completions to Mike Evans and Austin Seferian-Jenkins, and consistently managed to find his checkdowns to keep drives going.
Surprisingly, this is only the first time Winston has won this award, and he’s the first Buc to win this award since Bobby Rainey in 2013. He’s also the first Bucs quarterback to win this award since Josh Freeman did so twice in 2010.
