Jameis Winston is on fire as Buccaneers crush Browns before the half

NFL: Preseason-Cleveland Browns at Tampa Bay Buccaneers Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are destroying the Cleveland Browns in a nationally televised preseason game, with Jameis Winston playing a leading role. At the half, the Bucs are leading 27-10, with the starters probably playing just one more series after the half. We can call this a definite win for Tampa Bay’s first-team players.

Winston completed 16 of 25 passes for a whopping 259 yards and two touchdowns. No sacks, no fumbles, no turnovers. He did add nine rushing yards on two scrambles, though. Almost half of that came on passes to Mike Evans, who caught five of five targets for 115 yards and a touchdown.

It’s not just the offense, though. The defense has a whopping five sacks, has allowed just ten points, and forced and nearly recovered a fumble. Oh, and the only touchdown they allowed was a deep ball to Josh Gordon and, well, he’s special — though he did beat Brent Grimes, and the veteran cornerback has been a little up-and-down this preseason.

Add in a punt return touchdown, and Roberto Aguayo hitting all five of his kicks and looking good on kickoffs, and the Bucs put in a complete first half. Now here’s to hoping that’s a sign of things to come for the Bucs.
