The Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn’t expect Vincent Jackson to play tonight, but it seems like he may suit up after all: the wide receiver wasn’t listed among the provisional list of players who are not expected to play. Teams don’t announce official lists of injured or inactive players in the preseason, so they can always backtrack on this, if they want.
The Bucs say that receiver Louis Murphy, running back Charles Sims, linebacker Cassanova McKinzy, guard J.R. Sweezy, tackle Caleb Benenoch and defensive end William Gholston probably won’t be playing tonight, the latter because of a personal matter. Every other player is struggling with an injury of some sort.
Don’t expect the Bucs to give Vincent Jackson and the other starters a lot of playing time, though. The first preseason game usually sees starters playing two or three series, at most. That’s about how much you can expect to see of Jameis Winston and company tonight, before the backups come in.
You can treat this as your open thread.
