Dominique Robertson was shot twice in the leg on Thursday in Loma Linda, California, according to the Tampa Bay Times. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie guard is doing “okay”, or so his attorney told Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times. His health doesn’t appear to be in any serious danger, which is one positive.
The Bucs signed Robertson as a rookie free agent after the 2016 NFL draft. He is the nephew of George Warhop, the team’s offensive line coach, but there wasn’t much room for him on the roster before he was shot. Having to recuperate from an injury will make his battle to make it to the NFL that much harder.
Robertson played his college football at Riverside City College in California. The local newspaper The Press Enterprise quotes Robertson’s attorney as saying his civil rights were violated as the police denied him access to a lawyer and medication after he was detained in relation to the shooting. What exactly happened that led to this shooting remains a mystery.
