The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continue to be linked with Georgia linebacker Leonard Floyd. After Mike Mayock mocked him to the Bucs yesterday, Todd McShay is now saying the Bucs will pick him in his final 2016 NFL mock draft.
It's noteworthy, though, that none of the local beat writers have linked him to the Bucs -- and they tend to have a better feel for what the Bucs are going to do. See the 2014 NFL draft, when Johnny Manziel was repeatedly linked to the Bucs, but local beat writers continued to stick with Mike Evans as the most likely pick. And that's exactly what happened. The national guys tend to be less plugged in -- possibly because the Bucs are purposefully deceiving folks. It's lying season, after all.
Floyd's a weird top ten pick, mostly because he's a highly developmental pick regardless of where the Bucs decide to play him -- money's on edge rusher, but he doesn't have the frame to be truly disruptive there. His athleticism is intriguing, and that could seduce the Bucs into picking him, though.
We'll know where the Bucs are going at around 9:00 p.m. tonight, barring any trades.
