The Jacksonville Jaguars are trying to trade down from the no.5 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, according to Mel Kiper and Todd McShay. That's what the two ESPN analysts said yesterday on the First Draft podcast, and Peter King of The MMQB suggested the Jaguars could do the same in his latest mock draft. Over at Big Cat Country, Alfie's a little skeptical, though.
This could be good news for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are stuck at number nine picking from a host of prospects with significant question marks. A trade out would be ideal for the Bucs -- and such a trade could see them going up or down. A trade up is only likely to happen if it means securing either Jalen Ramsey or Joey Bosa, the top prospects at safety and defensive end, respectively.
There's another reason this is good news for the Bucs: other teams probably aren't going to be trading into the top ten to pick either Ramsey or Bosa at number five, which could push them down just a little further.
Keep in mind that it is lying season, though. Team sources are very busy deceiving reporters right now. So take all of this with a grain of salt.
