Gerald McCoy injury: Buccaneers DT says he’ll play against Chargers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won’t have to worry about defensive tackle Gerald McCoy, it seems, even though the Tampa Bay Times spotted him wearing a boot on his foot on Monday.

The Pro Bowler told Sirius XM NFL that he’ll be fine and ready to play against the San Diego Chargers this Sunday.

McCoy is coming off arguably his best game of the year, having notched 1.5 sacks against the Seattle Seahawks. The Bucs defense as a whole played some dominant football, limiting Seattle to just five points and sacking Russell Wilson a total of six times.

McCoy is probably the team’s most important player on defense, or at minimum the player who makes both the run defense and the pass rush go. Keeping him on the field is crucial for the Bucs defense, which has played some very good football in recent weeks. So the fact that his injury should be fine is great news.
