The Tampa Bay Buccaneers don't actually look terrible in this week's power rankings, despite dropping to 3-4 and letting a good chance to stay close to the NFC South lead go to waste. Apparently, analysts don't really mind a close loss to the Oakland Raiders.
Over at SB Nation, the Bucs actually stayed in one place: Adam Stites ranks them 24th, just as he did last week.. That's basically what all the other rankings show, too, who have the Bucs ranked somewhere between 22nd and 26th, per SB Nation's roundup. Except for Pro Football Talk, who rank the Bucs 17th and seem to think they're actually any good. I am so weirded out by that.
Then again, perhaps I shouldn't be. The Bucs lost a close game in overtime to a team that is widely seen as one of the best in the NFL, even if their defense is terrible. Sure, they lost it despite the Raiders giving them every chance to pull out a win. But a near-win is a near-win, and generally those don't result in massive drops in the rankings.
