NFL Network to air mini-documentary on 0-26 Buccaneers

New, comments

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers first two seasons are the stuff of legends, and particularly this year. Jason Vuic published The Yucks: Two Years in Tampa with the Losingest Team in NFL History earlier this year, a must-read for any Bucs fan, and now NFL Network is doing an episode on the Bucs’ 0-26 start as well.

This Wednesday, November 23, at 9 p.m. ET, NFL Network will air an episode of The Timeline focused on the 0-26 Bucs. It’s very much worth watching, filled with cute details from the time, historical footage and modern interviews with people involved at the time — including the infamous John McKay Jr., the head coach’s son the Bucs traded for and who never produced.

It’s cool to see the Bucs get some attention, and I do love that early history even if it’s somewhat embarrassing. It’s all part of who the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were and, for some, still are. Hopefully the Bucs can start to change that image and turn 0-26 back into a cute story, instead of more and more exemplary of the franchise as a whole.
