The Tampa Bay Buccaneers play the San Francisco 49ers in a couple of minutes. For the Bucs, the most important thing will be to win this game — as is the case in, well, every sporting matchup — but they also need to show that they’re actually a good team.
So far this season, the Bucs have struggled to beat anyone. The teams they have beaten were only beaten by a small margin, and they’ve lost to some really bad teams. Part of that can be attributed to injuries, but those plague every NFL team, and the Bucs as a whole have not played overly well.
Tampa Bay can beat San Francisco without playing overly well, too. The 49ers aren’t particularly good. But if the Bucs can’t even beat the 49ers handily, what chances do they have of beating all the other teams they face this year — all of which are better than San Francisco.
Here’s to hoping today’s game turns into a blowout, for the Bucs. Jameis Winston had better get ready to throw some bombs to Mike Evans!
Here’s your first open thread for today’s game.
