Paxton Lynch replaces Trevor Siemian against the Buccaneers

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have knocked Trevor Siemian out of the game with a shoulder injury. The Denver Broncos quarterback got sacked three times this game, and the third time was too much, apparently.

The Broncos turned to first-round pick Paxton Lynch instead, who hasn’t really looked any worse against this Bucs defense, which was actually holding up well against Siemian. Lynch has completed four of eight passes for 47 yards, although he could have been intercepted in the end zone.

We’ll see how Lynch does during the rest of the games, but he has some leeway: the Bucs are down 17-7, and while the Tampa Bay defense has been sturdy, it hasn’t really come close to producing any turnovers, either. A game manager-like performance may be good enough for Denver to sneak out of here with the win. ]

The Bucs, of course, will want to not have that happen. They’ll have to start scoring touchdowns, and mostly not turning over the ball for that to happen. Given the way they’ve played in this and previous games, that may be a bit much to ask.
