Doug Martin injury: Buccaneers back suffers setback to hamstring

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will probably have to play the San Francisco 49ers without Doug Martin. The back was absent from practice today, and head coach Dirk Koetter noted in his press conference that he’d suffered a setback.

“Doug, unfortunately, did suffer a setback a week ago Sunday and we’ll just have to see when he can make it back,” Koetter said. “There’s no timetable on that right now, again, that’s not my department.”

With Martin out, the Bucs will turn to Jacquizz Rodgers to carry the load again. They also signed boom-or-bust-back Antone Smith this week and have undrafted rookie Peyton Barber on the roster.

In addition to the team’s lead running back, the Bucs will likely be missing defensive linemen Clinton McDonald and Robert Ayers, neither of whom practiced today.

In slightly better news, Gerald McCoy was limited after missing the past couple of games, and Luke Stocker was able to practice fully, so it looks like those two should be back this week.
