Titans ask to interview Jon Robinson for general manager position

The Tennessee Titans have asked for permission to interview Tampa Bay Buccaneers director of player personnel for their general manager position, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times and Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune.

Robinson is Jason Licht's right-hand man, and one of the first people the Bucs' general manager brought in when he accepted the job in 2014. Robinson oversaw two pretty successful drafts, including this year's which featured four key starters, but also oversaw many of the free agency failures in the past two years. Robinson joined the Bucs from the New England Patriots, where he spent his entire NFL career since 2002. He was the Patriots' director of college scouting from 2009-13 after being an area and regional scout for several years.

It's not clear whether Robinson will accept the Titans' interest, but the fact that he interviewed for the New York Jets' general manager job last year suggests he will.
