Buccaneers' Jon Robinson named for Titans' general manager search

Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may lose a key component of their front office this offseason: direcotr of player personnel Jon Robinson is a "name to watch" for the Tennessee Titans' general manager search, according to Albert Breer f NFL Network.

Robinson is Jason Licht's right-hand man, and one of the first people the Bucs' general manager brought in when he accepted the job in 2014. Robinson oversaw two pretty successful drafts, including this year's which featured four key starters, but also oversaw many of the free agency failures in the past two years.

Robinson joined the Bucs from the New England Patriots, where he spent his entire NFL career since 2002. He was the Patriots' director of college scouting from 2009-13 after being an area and regional scout for several years.

As always with personnel executives, it's hard to tell what exactly they're responsible for and how important they are to the organization. NFL teams aren't known exactly for their open way of doing business. Most indications are that Robinson is a key force in the Bucs' front office, though, and he'll be hard to replace.
