Super Bowl 50 happens in two weeks. The Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers face off in the 50th version of the biggest football game in the world, and this time it's an old veteran in his fourth Super Bowl as a quarterback facing off against a young superstar. Both teams have tremendous defenses, though the Denver defense is clearly superior. Meanwhile, Cam Newton is also the better quarterback at this point in both his and Peyton Manning's careers.
Deciding who to root for is tricky, though.
On the one hand, I kind of enjoy Cam Newton. I know, I'm a Bucs fan, we're supposed to hate the Panthers, right? But Newton's fun to watch, he's clearly enjoying himself on the field, and he's just a good player. As long as he's not playing against the Bucs, I'm good with him winning a bunch of stuff. I'll get to hating him if the hero worship becomes unbearable, as it did for Drew Brees after 2009.
On the other hand, this is probably Peyton Manning's last chance at a second Super Bowl and that Denver defense sure is fun to watch. I also can't handle an offseason of drooling over Luke Kuechly's play while Lavonte David remains criminally underrated.
Who are you rooting for in the Super Bowl?
